Dodgy filmmaker
Last year I had the rather unpleasant experience of meeting Thomas Maylott, or rather I did on Facebook. He claimed that he worked for Hammer Horror and was planning on making a new Dracula film, with him as Dracula. Before I could go any further I was warned by another actor not to work with him. This was because he did not know what he was doing and wanted everyone to work for nothing. At the moment he keeps recasting actors to do yet another trailer and waste everyone's time. Has anyone else had experience of this man? Because I would like to stop him exploiting people.

An actress told him about me a few months ago and he pestered me for weeks. I would advise that he is avoided. He is not connected with Hammer Horror and there is some rather questionable amateur footage of him and a short film he made sometime ago on the internet. Not a professional at all and certainly no film maker.
Thank you for sharing. I've responded to a casting call that turned out to be him and at a meeting got a really weird feeling thankfully found this during my research.

Has anyone reported him to Equity?
There are (negative!) comments about TM going back at least seven years (and that was just one FB group I checked). Always cross-check any names that seem even slightly suspect in whatever forums or social media platforms you're in.
I was actually brought on as a producer for his Dracula reboot thing about 9-10 years ago now (before all of the comments online). At first meeting, he seemed legit and I was happy to be on board but then noticed he was very impatient and literally wanted to shoot straight away without planning anything out.
Then the director messaged me to say he'd left the project as Thomas was too difficult to work with. I phoned Thomas afterwards to find out what happened and he launched into a tirade about how he had waited too long to make the film and he would direct it himself. I told him that we should plan it all properly otherwise we'd just end up making a shit film at which point he booted me off the project and then started sending me shitty messages.
Good to see that almost a decade later nothing has changed haha.
Cam, if (IF) he’s offering to shoot a showreel for you, that’s great. However they take a lot of planning, writing and logistics, not to mention time spent learning dialogue and getting other actors for the scenes. It would be far, far easier and cheaper to actually pay you for your work (so why isn’t he??) Re IMDB credits. Not worth anything. Anyone can add anything on there - it has no value.
He got me involved around 2018, claiming to work for Hammer, I soon discovered he was lying and unprofessional, I let Hammer know that he was wrongly claiming to be with them.
Clearly a strange man with a bit of an obsession. I have never heard of him and I have friends who are on the horror scene. After seeing his YouTube Ill steer clear!
