Employers who don't get back to you

Is anyone else annoyed at employers who don't do you the courtesy to get back to you even after you have done a custom demo for them ( not general submissions, I mean when they ask for one) I auditioned for a company, they said they were interested and sent me a chapter of an audio book to record. I did and then they got back asking me to do it again with some slight changes..did it again and then...nothing. Sent an email a few days later asking if they had got the file OK...nothing again. That was about a month ago now.
Now I don't care if I don't get the job but how long would it take for them just to say 'thanks but we decided to go with someone else.'? I just typed that and reckon it took less than 10 seconds.
Its just rude! I suppose he could have fallen under a bus in which case he is excused but I suspect it is just plain discourtesy.
Grrrrr. (Rant off)

Ruth you can't let yourself get upset by it

It's par for the course, getting angry about it only cripples you with negative energy

People are imperfect, fallible creatures, busy people are worse, taking their actions personally is self destructive

Be nice to yourself

That's ok Sean, I am generally nice to myself!
I am not particularly 'upset' or angry by it either and understand how busy people can be but having worked with lot of very busy people who DO get back to you I just had a little rant about how rude it is..
After all this is the Rants and Raves forum...
Going off to the Zen forum now...;-D

Politeness costs nothing, the 'dew on the meadow'. I agree. Some have it in'em others just don't get it.actors do have a rough time of it. Don't allow this to erode your spirit. Happens to us all. you are not alone. Take comfort in the knowledge that you are one of the lucky ones who have this awareness. This can only enrich your life for the better. Please accept my words of support and may I apologise on behalf of those who overlook common courtesy. Their loss not yours.

Can I add that often I prefer to hear nothing at all

Ya there's nothing more annoying than being told I almost landed some gig or other bit was just pipped at the post by someone or other, or the agency loved my voice but the client preferred another

I've kept one rejection letter from a well known VO agent that was extremely complimentary and incredibly nice! that frustrates me because if I was as wonderful as she says in this, letter I'd be on her books making her money

Thanks Natasha.
By the way when I posted this i was pleasantly surprised to get a private message from Voices Pro admin asking me to name the company so they could check it out.
Nice to know that they are looking out for us!

I would say I've been silently rejected by 70% of the jobs I've applied for. I find the other 30% where they actually contacted me to tell me I didn't get it far preferable!

Nope, I had another "we have filled the role but thank you" yesterday and it wound me right up

See, I get an email saying "voices pro contact" and I get all excited

I log onto voices pro thinking I've landed a gig and find a message telling me I haven't

No thanks, I'd rather you only contact me,to,tell me that you want me

Hmm. I don't really care if they don't get in touch generally to say no thanks. Its when they express a great interest, get you to record and refine specific samples and THEN don't tell you whats going on. That, in my opinion is rude!
