Hi,

Just wondered if anyone can give me more advice on how to get my 4 Spotlight credits?

I have 3 agents who would love to sign me but I’m
To come back and contact them when I have Spotlight

Hi Lara,
I can only give my experience that I just 'got out there', applied for film roles, travelled extensively to take part in films and eventually, through the contacts that I made and my showreel that I was able to create, I was cast in paid, professional productions which counted as credits for my Spotlight application.
Best wishes,
Olivia Hespe

Thank you for answering Olivia, glad you got there.
How did you put your self out there though? I’m applying for everything on Mandy & Twitter… am I missing anything else?

Looking at your profile, you seem to have no shortage of professional credits and you have trained. Could any past employers/ casting directors give you a testimonial to show to Spotlight? It seems unfair to keep you away from paid, professional work when you have already worked as a professional and you have an agent. All the very best to you.

Hi Virginia
Thanks for taking a look and replying.

I am full trained for 4-16 years old at full time stage school but apparently that doesn’t count! Only collage or university

My tv and film are just 2/3 lines so that don’t count and my theatre work was all with the stage schools so that’s a no no!

Doesn’t seem fair really. X

Lara - I'm no expert on this. It seems you are doing the right things - ultimately it is about building contacts and networks. I am sure that if you persist, you will achieve your aims. Good luck to you.

Hi Lara,

It's a hell of an uphill battle, but I would say that another option is to try and obtain paid voice acting work which you can do remotely, now this is by no means easy but it's another avenue for sure.

I have also read that some people have done profit share theatre work to get their credits, but I couldn't find out much about that when I looked and I couldn't tell you whether that was outdated information.

I wish you the best of luck and I am sure we will all get there if we keep trying!

Hi Lara - I'm battling with the Spotlight credit criteria too... It's VERY frustrating, isn't it! (I went through the same sort of thing, many years ago, to finally get my Equity card.) However, we'll get it (SL) eventually and then pay a lot for the privilege! (Are all these memberships even tax-deductible? Don't think they are now...) Anyway - it needs to be done so keep going and best of luck!

Hi there I recently left the agency I am with and I have applied and been successful with a couple jobs and auditions at the very least, is it harder yes but honestly not impossible.

Hi Laura

I think you have enough credits to have spotlight, you have 3 years training - Try again. xxx

Best wishes
