Theatre-Rites is developing an exciting new immersive production with Manchester International Festival for their 2021 Festival. Theatre-Rites’ Artistic Director Sue Buckmaster will be collaborating with composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson, choreographer Gregory Maqoma and designer Ingrid Hu.WE ARE LOOKING FOR HIGHLY SKILLED VOCALISTS* AND PERCUSSIONISTS*we are interested in hearing from all types of singers; from traditional and folk, to classically trained, to rappers or beatboxers, and more.SCHEDULE: Workshop planned for week of 18th Jan 2021 followed by a 6-week rehearsal period starting May with performances in July 2021BRIEF: The piece will draw from the childhood experiences of the people in the rehearsal room and we are particularly interested to hear from musicians with a strong performance presence who were born in and spent at least 7 years of their early childhood in a non-European, non-North American country OR experienced a childhood in the UK steeped in and influenced by a non-European or non-North American cultural heritage.
