    For this fixed-term post, we are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated person as a Principal Learning Officer to lead our current technical team that supports Performing Arts within the Leeds School of Arts. The team supports the teaching and learning activities of both staff and students working within the area with practical help and advice. The appointment comes at an exciting time for the school, with a move into our new state of the art Leeds School of Arts building.With an extensive background in Performing Arts, you will contribute to and manage all aspects of support for our performance spaces. You will use your experience of leading and managing a team of technical staff to enable a diverse range of performance work.You should have experience in a wide array of current theatre technologies including both analogue and digital mixing consoles, associated hardware such as microphones, outboard equipment and monitoring as well as significant experience of theatre lighting technologies including both LED and tungsten fixtures along with DMX control and associated software. Your technical experience will allow you to confidently operate both sound and lighting equipment in a live performance context. You will use your extensive experience in a wide range of professional creative software applications such as Qlab, Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop to support student and staff activity. As a leading member of the Performing Arts support team your customer service skills will be used in both studio and classroom environments to assist in the smooth running of the day-to-day service as well as public performances and visiting productions.You will also provide integrated support for the subject’s IT resources in both Windows and OS X environments, offering first and second line software and hardware support, and routine maintenance. You will frequently liaise with other learning support colleagues to ensure uninterrupted service in studio and IT laboratory settings.You will be required to provide advice and assistance to academic staff on the future development of learning resources and procedures, and in the preparation and basic repair of equipment and the safe working practices within a professional studio environment, including experience in current Health and Safety legislation/practices.You will also be required to work closely and proactively with learning support colleagues in the wider School teams to provide an integrated service and thus a flexible approach to work location will be required.
