Jingle Bell Singers

Jingle Bell Singers
Rah Rah Theatre Company

  • Project Details
Rah Rah Theatre Company is currently seeking strong singers to join their ‘Jingle Bell Singers’ groups, who will be performing in outside locations to isolated, vulnerable people this Christmas. We are looking for singers who feel comfortable singing solo, can sing in harmony, act, do basic dance moves and interact with audiences. Each troupe will consist of three singers: one male and two female, and we plan to have 2-3 groups go out. We are particularly interested in hearing from: already-formed singing groups, singers that live near to the company base in New Malden, people who drive (and would therefore not need to use public transport during the tour), and quick learners.  (Please state in a covering letter any of these which apply to you.)Each troupe will be required 2-3 days a week and each singer will be paid £100 per day. The first show of the day is 11am and the last show is normally around 4pm. Singers will be asked to keep a day spare each week, should bookings be cancelled due to the weather (so that we can re-book the performances to that day). There will be minimal rehearsals in late November and these will primarily be online with maybe a day or two in person. Both the online and in-person rehearsals will be paid at an hourly rate of £10 per hour.  Singers, however, would need to learn the majority of the material on their own via the videos and backing tracks which will be provided. The tour runs from the 30th November to the 5th of January and singers will have some Saturdays, every Sunday, the 25th, 26th, 31st of December and 1st of January OFF. As the work will be outside, we ask singers to think strongly before applying, as although the tour will be very rewarding, it will not suit everyone. We are a charity theatre company who specialise in using theatre as a form of therapy and have been working within the elderly community for over 20 years. It is essential that we think about the emotional health and wellbeing of the vulnerable people in our community during this difficult time and make sure they are not completely isolated from the rest of the world. The ‘Jingle Bell Singers’ would help combat this by singing a collection of ‘feel good’ Christmas songs in outside locations, such as: care home car parks, sheltered housing courtyards and vulnerable people’s doorsteps. “A smile starts on the lips, a grin spreads to the eyes, a chuckle comes from the belly; but a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, overflows, and bubbles all around”
