Experimental / Narrative Short Film. Inspired by the form of Wimmelbooks, this short film will be comprised of a sequence of long, locked-off, wide-shots that tells the story of a brother and sister who pursue an individual (Jesse) over the course of a fortnight, from the confines of their car. Highly experimental in form, the entire film will be shot covertly from within a car – with the actor playing Jesse performing in public spaces, unbeknownst to any passers-by. Throughout the film we hear the dialogue of 2 unseen characters (Tony & Clare) who sit in the car and either discuss what they (/we) can see through the windscreen, or simply just chat with one another. *We wrapped shooting in late February, and are now looking to cast for the voices of Tony & Clare. We will stage the voice recording in such a way as to emulate the layout of a car: both actors will be sat adjacently, facing forwards – and we shall project the footage for each scene onto a screen in front, so that each actor can respond to the footage / “windscreen view” in real time. Whilst there is scripted dialogue for all scenes, there is large room for improvisation - and we will encourage actors to respond both to the actions of Jesse (our lead character who Tony & Clare are pursuing) and to any genuine actions of passers-by in the background of frame. We will be recording the voices over a single day at the end of May (exact date TBC).
