Reading Rep Theatre has managed to raise 1.2 million to build a brand new regional theatre during the pandemic. The theatre will be Reading's first and only producing theatre, and a cultural hub, desperately needed in a population of 350,000.To celebrate and complement the theatre's opening season Barracuda Films is producing a complementary season of five short films, with each piece thematically linked to one of the five main house theatre productions. We have brought a very exciting team of creatives together for this. Each film can be filmed in a day.We are looking for crew!We have budget and will be paying fairly, but this is a charitable project - Barracuda isn't taking a fee. We're really looking for a team who will be excited to help out a theatre company and would enjoy working on a fun and artistically fulfilling project with a bright and happy team. We're hoping a couple of the films can go on the festival circuit, and we're planning to get a distributor for the season, too. The plan is for future seasons to be fully funded.We are interested in hearing from the following roles:Production designerMake upCostumeGafferSound designer/operator/mixerGraderWe have a DoP and Editor on board for the season but we're interested in hearing from people interested in these roles should circumstances change.We are looking for recent graduates and early career crew who would be excited at the creative challenge of running their own department and to take sole artistic control of and pride in their aspect of the films.Ideally crew members will join for the whole season, though depending on availability we may hire people for the specific films. Not all roles will be needed for all films.Each short can be filmed in a day, so there will be a maximum of five days of filming (though it'll likely be four, as we anticipate filming two of the pieces in one day). The filming days will all be on Saturdays.The first film needs to be complete by October-November, then the others can be spread out throughout the year (as each film is linked to each show), though we intend to have them all finished by spring. This means we do have flexibility with the schedule and can work around people's commitments to other work.We look forward to hearing from you!
