  • Project Details
Casting for several roles in powerful period drama based on a true story.‘A High Price for Ginger Beer’ follows 17-year-old Clarice Tovey who grapples with guilt when an inquest is held into the death of her baby nephew who was under her watch when he tragically drowned. The screenplay is written by Adam J Morgan and based on his ancestry. This is a story of faith, redemption, and sisterhood at its heart. I want to show that the path of healing can only start when you learn to forgive yourself. In order to accept the past, Clarice must let go of it and the constant “what if’s” that play in her mind. The film is being produced by Dream Hive Films. A production company I created in 2016 after my debut short film ‘Never Alone’. I look for finding the empathy and humanity in all characters, telling stories with both light and shade. Our previous films were fortunate enough to win and be selected for multiple festivals including the Birmingham Film Festival and the LA Film Awards. I am hoping that ‘A High Price’ will follow a similar path as I believe this is a really important message that needs to be shared. You can view some of our previous work & shorts via our website (provided upon application).Unfortunately, the roles are unpaid due to this being a completely self-funded passion project with all profits going to The Good Grief Trust - a charity that supports families and friends after a sudden bereavement. That being said, we have a really talented crew onboard that have kindly donated their services and I really think we can create something very special together. We would hugely appreciate your support in telling this story. All expenses (travel, food & accommodation) will of course be provided. The film should provide really fantastic material that I can edit into a showreel for you and I’m currently working on getting a photographer on set to take headshots for all the cast.Filming will be taking place from Friday 12th November to Sunday 14th November. Most roles will only be needed for one or two of these dates (see breakdowns). We will be shooting in Petworth, West Sussex at the cottage museum, local church & lake.Estimated time required: 1-3 days (depending on role, listed below).
