The primary function of this role is to design apparel ranges and create graphics for Debenhams own brands across both short and long lead times. This is completed with clear understanding of the Debenhams customer, brand vision and to support the commercial targets of the organisation.TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Designing across multi product areas for Debenhams own brands, taking idea from concept, creating initial specifications through to production of initial samplesAbility to design apparel and graphics for boyswearEnsures capability of team to work on short turn around as well as forward planning ranges for future seasonsCompleting regular research, pulling together themes and trends relevant to brand DNA and target customerWorks directly with overseas suppliers to create collectionsBuild and maintains close links with the buying and design teamDevelops and supports more junior team membersIs flexible regarding offshore travel when requiredDelivers results within specified time frames and thrives in a fast-paced environmentHEALTH & SAFETY:Ensures that all employees within the department work in a safe mannerFully understands the fire, emergency, and health & safety procedures of the workplaceEnsures that all potential and real hazards are taken care of immediately and are reported appropriately.Works in a safe and responsible manner, within the framework of legislation and workplace specific policies.Miscellaneous:Is an ambassador for the brandAttends training, meetings and other events as requested by direct manager or senior management, including Head of Human Resources.Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside own job role when requested, including supporting associated companies.Maintains own working area in a professional and organised manner.Always strives to improve the department’s operation and increase knowledge of own and related job functions.As a Debenhams Designer you should be highly motivated, with technical flair, excellent communication skills.
