Casting call for an R&D of a new playWe are looking for two vibrant, bold female-identifying actors in the Brighton area to participate in an R&D of a new play; Mother’s Day by award-winning playwright, Louise Monaghan and directed by Stephanie Fuller. What we are looking for:Intuitive performers with experience of working as part of R&Ds who can find creative ways to push the theatricality of the text.Triggers: Homelessness, addiction, family relationshipsAbout the playMother’s Day follows the story of Jasmine, a rough sleeper who has a child in care and is struggling with her addiction and Tillie, a 19-year-old under the influence of recreational drugs who has missed the last bus home. The play takes place over one evening and sees the women finding common ground through their painful past experiences. With themes of addiction, homelessness and motherhood, the play seeks to challenge common perceptions and provoke debate about an issue that has worsened in the wake of the Covid 19 crisis.
