    Lost in the Willows, written by Christine Foster. Directed by Margot Jobbins.Looking for: two men, two women.Kenneth Grahame (male): Playing age 40 - 55. Minimum 5'10" tall.Elspeth Grahame (female): Playing age 35 - 55. Character is dark haired, so dark hair preferable, otherwise wig will be required.Male 2 (multiple characters): Playing age 40 - 50s. Accents required, particularly Scottish.Female 2 (multiple characters): Playing age 35 - 55. Accents required, particularly Scottish.The play requires close ensemble playing. The characters are multi-dimensional and well drawn, therefore requiring creativity and versatility from the actors.Lost in the Willows will debut at Brighton Fringe 2022 (May - June 2022), for four performances. There will additionally be 2+ performances in Rottingdean, followed by a small tour comprising Eastbourne, London, Hastings. Total performances expected to be 12+. All dates TBC, but between May and July 2022.Payments:- £20 per rehearsal- £65 per performance- £50 single payment for travel expenses.We anticipate 20 - 23 rehearsals, each of four hours. Sixteen rehearsals held in Ovingdean, plus 4 - 7 tech/dress at respective venues.Auditions to be held mid December - early January, in Ovingdean BN2.Please only apply if you can easily travel to Ovingdean, BN2.Lost in the Willows follows the turbulent life and relationships of Kenneth Grahame, author of "The Wind In The Willows". Loss and loneliness stalked Kenneth Grahame. In fact he claimed he had only enjoyed one brief period in his life: his carefree childhood on the banks of the Thames. He becomes a reluctant adult struggling with a soul destroying job, an unstable wife and a troubled and disabled child. But it is Kenneth Grahame’s obsession with childhood that finally leads to the greatest tragedy of his life.
