It is essential we deliver an incredible production experience and consistent high-quality work, on budget and on time.Work activitiesMeet the senior production staff to examine scripts or programme ideasMeet with senior team to discuss schedules, budgets & ideas Hiring staff for the production, such as the director, crew, and, sometimes, the castCoordinating activities of, directors, managers, actors, and other personnel throughout the production processApproving major production changesMonitoring post-production processes to ensure accurate completion of detailsConducting meetings with staff to discuss production progress and check-ins to ensure production objectives goals are metDraw up a production schedule based on the logistics, timings and estimated costs Negotiate costs with suppliersArrange any necessary permissions and risk assessments Manage a production office team, which might include production assistants, production secretaries and a production coordinator. Make sure that the production runs to schedule Control and monitor production spending Report on progress to the senior teamDeal with any problems during filming, make any necessary changes to the schedule, for example re-scheduling filming in bad weather Make sure that health and safety rules, insurance terms, copyright laws and union agreements are followed. Other responsibilities:Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and vision engineering and editingConsulting with the director and/or client throughout the post-production processFamiliarising yourself with the style of specific directorsOperating cameras, autocue, edit suites and other production and postproduction equipmentWriting voiceover/commentary as well as recording guide voiceSuggesting or selecting musicConsulting with clients and colleagues on productions, future work and progression of the businessMotivate and communicate well with everyone throughout the project, take the lead on decisions, create a good working atmosphere and adhere to legal workplace regulation
