    Icon Theatre are looking for 2 performers for The Ballad of St John’s Car Park, celebrating the positive power of community protest and activism in Medway, from the protested closure of Chatham’s Dockyard in 1984 to the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

    Taking inspiration from true stories of local activism, The Ballad of St John’s Car Park explores the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020; Trans and LGBTQI+ activism and the establishment of Medway’s First Pride March in 2019; the Sikh community’s support of local protestors and the Sikh concepts of langar and seva; and local young people who took part in the Greta Thunberg climate protests in 2018.

    Performed at the Ballroom in the St George Hotel (Chatham) and featuring karaoke, a choir and spectacular projection, this immersive theatre production is created and performed by a core company of 4 professional performers alongside an ensemble of over 100 local residents and young people.
