Chopsticks!! is a Hong Kong style Martial Arts Comedy set within the dark underworld of a Chinese Triad gang. The project serves as a subtle homage to Hong Kong martial arts cinema, and is very much in the style of Stephen Chow's 'Kung Fu Hustle' and 'Shaolin Soccer', with the choreography of classic Jackie Chan movies.Short Synopsis: After Fang, the power-hungry son of a famous Triad syndicate leader, murders his own father, the only thing stopping him from total domination of the gang is his sister, Shu, a foul-mouthed drunk, who can no longer sit back and watch her brother disgrace their family legacy. Although vowing never to take a life, she is forced into the difficult choice of either murdering her very own brother or dying by his hand.We are looking for a large cast of Eastern Asian actors and martial artists. The roles of Shu and Fang have already been filled by two phenomenal martial art trained actors, but we are still looking for abled actors to fill the other main speaking rolls, as well as numerous fighters and extras. As part of the style, we are hoping to cast Eastern Asian actors, however if you feel you may bring something unique to the project then please don’t be discouraged to apply. Although it is mainly in English, the script has a few lines in Mandarin/Cantonese, however experience in the language is not required for any of the roles listed here. Preferably we’d like characters to have/be able to do a Chinese accent however.Roles that require any martial arts or stunt experience will be noted individually. Our choreographer is incredibly skilled and has been creating some amazing and unique routines inspired by fighters like Jackie Chan and Jet Li, with various camera techniques inspired by ‘The Raid’.This is a 3rd year final major graduation project in association with Middlesex University, which is now ranked the second best Film University in the UK. As this is a student production, only certain roles are paid, however all roles will be paid travel expenses, provided catering, credits in the film and IMDB, and a copy of the completed film for showreel purposes.The entire shoot will span across the dates of March 30th to April 9th, however no roles are required for the entire period, and the amount of shooting days vary from role to role. Some roles, especially fighters, will be required to attend a few rehearsal days throughout March, but mostly the week before shooting begins.We would like to hold auditions very soon, and will message privately to confirm a day and time. We will also accept self audition tapes.
