About me
I played drums for a living from age 17 and toured extensively in bands and also worked in theatres & local big bands. I have always been aware of the power of music in film from an early age and I think that my upbringing and eclectic mix of musical taste has enabled me to compose in a variety of musical genres and to draw on my experience of classical forms as well as more modern idioms. It is this musical "coexistence" that I believe makes up my musical personality, enabling me to be able to keep a firm foot in contemporary settings as well as classical domains. Perhaps it was being a drummer / performer of jazz and jazz influenced music on one hand and on the other, a lover of classical music, that they would both culminate into a passion for film music and in me gravitating towards composition. I also have many years' experience playing sessions on drums (and can be heard on numerous tracks on Audio Network) and have recently completed a film scoring & music course at Goldsmiths University under the tutelage of composer, Mariano Nunez-West. I am currently studying again under Mariano, this time on a Mixing and Mastering Course and am about to embark on a 3 day short course on film composing at NFTS. My love of rhythm & playing drums means that he often utilizes subtle poly-rhythmic phrases and rhythms in his music. I am now looking to build on my experience and am looking for work as a composer for TV, film and any visual mediums. Additional information:
I would love to hear from directors, film-makers and writers who require a composer for their film or project. I welcome any challenge and would love to use my love of all kinds of music and my knowledge and experience of a wide range of styles and genres to compose the right music to support your story, whether for screen or live. I am happy to write for film, TV, games, spoken word or if you want your words put to music. You will find me open, friendly and willing to work entirely for the story that the music needs to support, after all, the music is an extension of your vision. Look forward to hearing from you.
