Broadway casting director fired for alleged sexual misconduct
Broadway casting director Justin Huff has been fired for alleged sexual midsconduct, according to Variety.
Amid internal reports of alleged sexual misconduct, Huff has been fired from his position as casting director at Telsey + Company.
Speaking to Variety, founder of Telsey + Company, Bernard Telsey said: “He was let go last week...I was given reports of inappropriate behaviour which I took very seriously, and once I was able to get some information, it was very clear he had to leave this office.”
Huff was responsible for casting a number of significant Broadway productions including “Kinky Boots” and “The Colour Purple” and did not respond to requests for comment from Variety.
Huff's departure was announced November 30 (Thursday).
The entertainment industry is under extreme pressure after several investigations commenced, kickstarted by a New York Times article claiming the alleged exploits of Harvey Weinstein.
Detailed accounts from several women claimed Weinstein was responsible for multiple counts of sexual misconduct.
A direct effect of this was the hashtag #meetoo which trended worldwide and saw women from not just the entertainment industry, but all walks of life making their voices heard as they shared their experiences.
House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey, television journalist Matt Lauer and the Flash and Supergirl co-showrunner Andrew Kreisberg are among those fired for alleged sexual harassment.Tags:
