Cats actress chased off stage by service dog during Broadway production
A SERVICE dog chased a member of the Cats cast off stage during a performance on Broadway.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit was interrupted at the Neil Simon Theatre when a service dog in the audience chased an actress off the stage.
Sources at the theatre told Page Six the dog "got away from its owner and ran after [the character] Bombalurina, performed by actress Mackenzie Warren, during the opening number, Jellicle Cats."
As the dog bound towards the stage an usher managed to get the canine under control.
A spokesperson issued a statement, saying: "In the storied history of Cats, this is the first time one of the actual cats was involved in an incident with a dog.
"We’re pleased to report that no animals or humans were harmed in the dust-up, and the performance continued without a hitch."
The kitsch musical opened on the West End in 1981 and went on to become the fourth longest-running musical of all time.
A movie version of Cats is reportedly in the works with A Danish Girl director Tom Hooper.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker also took the reigns on Les Miserables (2012), which grossed over $440 million (£327m).
The Broadway production of Cats will end it's run and officially close on December 30.
