Suits star Meghan Markle quits acting to become a princess
SUITS actress Meghan Markle is giving up her acting career to become a princess full time.
The news was announced via Clarence House this morning (Monday).
"His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle," it reads.
"The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
"His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family.
"Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents.
"The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace."
Meghan Markle made a name for herself in the hit television show Suits as Rachel Zane.
As well as suits Suits, the 36-year-old actress also appeared in comedy feature film Horrible Bosses and Russel Brand rock 'n' roll caper Get Him to the Greek.
Markle will assume royal duties after the marriage and no longer act.
Silver screen legend Grace Kelly (Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, High Society) famously retired from acting at the age of 26 after marrying Prince of Monaco, Rainier III.
Meghan Markle is from Los Angeles, California, and was formerly married to manager and executive producer Trevor Engelson.
She is a descendant of King John, who reigned from 1199 to 1216.
Markle used to make money doing calligraphy for wedding invitations between acting jobs, according to the BBC.
