Taylor Swift Wins Best Song of the Year at the CMA's
Taylor Swift has won an award for ‘Best Song of the Year’ at the 2017 Country Music Awards.
“Better Man” was written for country music band Little Big Town.
The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs in February.
Swift was unable to attend the ceremony, where the award was picked up by Little Big Town on her behalf.
Singer Karen Fairchild said, “Taylor, wherever you are, thank you for this beautiful song and for loving songs and loving Nashville.”
Little Big Town released “Better Man” as a single in October 2016, but did not reveal the writer of the song until the following month.
“Some of you have been asking and we told you that there was a young girl in Nashville that wrote it by herself, and it’s Taylor Swift”, said Fairchild.
“She sent us this song and it was one that was really special to her, and she thought of us because of the harmonies.”
“She’s never pitched the song to anyone before and the moment that we heard it we were like, ‘Man, that is a song that we’re going to cut.'”
Taylor Swift’s sixth studio album, “Reputation”, was released on Friday (November 10).
