Peter Kay cancels first tour in eight years
British comedian Peter Kay has cancelled his first tour in eight years due to family problems.
PeterKay has cancelled his upcoming UK tour due to unforeseen familycircumstances.
The Phoenix Nights star issued a statement, earlier today: "Mysincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I'msure you'll understand my family must always come first.
"I'vealways endeavoured to protect my family's privacy from the media. Ihope that the media and public will continue to respect our privacyat this time. Once again I'm very sorry."
Kayannounced the "Have Gags, Will Travel" tour dates last month, sayingthat he missed touring: “Ireally miss it. I know how lucky I am to be making television seriesand have really loved these past few years working on CarShare but I missdoing stand-up.
“Asterrifying as it is, when it works there's nothing more fun andexciting. Plus, a lot has happened in the last eight years, withTrump, Twitter, and my Nan getting her front bush trimmed at theage of 96. I can't wait to get back up on stage.”
ThePhoenix Nights star was due to appear in London, Birmingham,Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgowand Dublin, with DJ slots at Dance for Life events for Cancer Research UK.
His tours are a hit with critics and fans, with his first DVD "Live atBolton" holding the record for biggest-selling British stand up DVD,broken by his follow up "Mum Wants a Bungalow".
Hislast tour "The Tour That Didn't Tour...On Tour" was in 2010, and waswatched by 1.2 million people.
PeterKay's BAFTA-winning Car Share will return for additional episodes next year.Tags:
