Sade to release new music for first time in eight years
Smooth Operator singer Sade is finally set to release new music for the first time in eight years.
Film director Ava DuVernay (Selma) tried her luck at getting the singer for her new film A Wrinkle in Time and the elusive singer agreed.
DuVernay – who also writes and produces – announced the news on her Twitter account: “I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess.
"We began a journey together that I’ll never forget.”
Sade is best known for songs like Smooth Operator and the The Sweetest Taboo.
Her debut album Diamond Life was certified platinum four times after its release in 1984.
She was awarded a CBE for services to music in 2017.
A Wrinkle in Time stars Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Gogy Mbatha-Raw and Chris Pine and is based on the 1962 novel of the same name about a young girl trying to find her missing father.
The film is being released in the UK on March 23 and is the first film with a budget exceeding $100m directed by a woman who is not caucasian.Tags:
