• Tony Awards 2018 winners – The Band's Visit wins BIG and Harry Potter nabs Best Play

The 72nd annual Tony Awards took place tonight at Radio City Music Hall in New York, US, and saw musical The Band's Visit pick up a staggering nine awards.

    11th Jun 2018By Andrew Wooding

The Tony awards 2018 were hosted by singer-songwriter-actors Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban and saw rock legend Bruce Springsteen pick up a Special Tony Award for Springsteen on Broadway as well composer and musical impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera), actress, dancer and singer Chita Rivera (Chicago) and actor and stand up comedian John Leguizamo for Latin History for Morons.

Despite racking up 12 nominations, SpongeBobs Squarepants: The Broadway Musical came away with just one win (for Best Scenic Design in a Musical) and Mean Girls – which also received 12 nods – failed to pick up one award.
