Productions Wanted for UK's First Zero-Waste Theatre

Posted By The Greenhouse theatre

The Greenhouse – the UK’s first zero-waste theatre – is now accepting applications for its 2021 programme. Whether you’re passionate about making the world a greener place through performance, or you’re simply excited to develop your sustainable practice, we’d love to hear from you!

About Us:

Founded in 2018, The Greenhouse is an industry-leading eco-theatre company, who created the UK’s first zero-waste pop-up theatre. Through our shows, we inspire personal, emotional connections with the climate crisis. Then, through education, outreach, and workshops, we give them the skills and knowledge they need to take action. Underpinning all of this, we lead by example. Everything about this project – from each individual show to our marketing strategies to the venue itself – is completely zero-waste.

What we're looking for:

This year, The Greenhouse is expanding, taking on a month-long run in London in June, before transferring to Bedford for a four-month residency. We are looking for young creatives – writers, directors, both, or neither – who have an idea for a show that they could bring to life in our venue.

We will programme at least 2 shows, each with a commission of £1,500, as well as a £500 production budget. Shows will be rehearsed for two weeks in April, and then performed 10 times through the month of June in rep. They will also be performed for one week in October in Bedford. We are very flexible with the type of show and its themes – all we ask is that it discusses the natural environment and our relationship to it in some way.

If you are interested in applying, please go to http://www.thegreenhousetheatre.com/work-with-us to download the application pack, then send your responses by 23:59 on Friday 5th February.

The application process is open to all, and we particularly encourage applications from ethnic minorities, disabled candidates, young creatives, and communities currently under-represented in the theatrical community.
