Saw meets The Seventh Seal as they play Would You Rather? Theme: Sometimes seemingly small actions can have dire, irreparable consequences / things are not always what they appear, including what we see reflected in the mirror.Logline: When an unexpected visitor turns up at a house party and informs the guests that they are destined to die that very night, the doomed revelers must find replacements to take their slots. Synopsis:    A group of friends get together for a party - while a psychotic has broken out of an insane asylum a few miles away. This terrifying man now stalks through the night, on a murderous rampage. One of his victims is a non-remarkable Girl, asleep at home. At the party, there is Melanie, the hedonist, Bradley, the intellectual hipster, Jake, the poser, and Rachel (whose house it is), a brilliant grad student, among a few others. Francesca, a snarky friend of Melanie’s, drags her coworker there, the painfully shy, born-again Christian, Stephanie. As they enjoy the night, the dead Girl “awakes” and leaves her bedroom.    The revelers then play a party game called “Witch,” when The Girl suddenly enters the house. Everyone is instantly alarmed (she appears seriously injured) and wants to get her medical help, but she just grins eerily and explains that the psychotic is on his way to their house, to kill each of them – and if they try to flee, they will be immediately killed in another way. The Girl alludes to the fact that she is the Grim Reaper, inhabiting a human body in order to make them a deal: she will spare their lives if they can each find a replacement soul – meaning, if they lure someone else to the house and take their life in their stead, they will live. Francesca thinks this is a dumb prank and storms out of the house–and is impaled by an antenna that falls off the roof, killing her on the spot. The others then realize the gravity of the situation. They must either accept their fate and die, or kill to survive. After some intense deliberation, they decide to rid the world of “bad” people–to justify things. They contact all the disreputable folk they know. Bradley tempts his mother’s abusive boyfriend to come there with promise of a purloined payload. After an intense struggle, Bradley brutally kills him. They have crossed a line now, and the others are empowered to do the same. They use the innocent-looking Stephanie to bait a local politician caught molesting numerous underage girls, and in the ensuing fracas, Stephanie stabs him to death. Unfortunately, Jake is also killed in this melee. Rachel now realizes that The Girl chose them all for this because they each have a dark secret in their past, but Rachel can’t quite figure out the significance of this. Melanie then accidentally kills a friend who arrives at the party, and is technically “saved,” yet the group is feeling very disheartened.    Time is running out for Rachel, when a spectral Man shows up at the house. He reveals his identity (the actual Reaper), and The Girl confesses her true self, and the real reason why she was urging them to kill the others. She is the devil, and pushed them to commit these mortal sins so their souls would be hers, eternally relegated to Hell (they were just on the fence before, not quite evil enough damnation). Then, the psychotic busts in and executes all of them, save Rachel, who managers to somehow slay the maniac. She tells The Girl that she is leaving, and is about to escape, when a final twist rears its horrid head… Seeking a makeup artist (ideally a student) seeking on-set experience and exposure. Should be good with lacerations, deep cuts, ghastly Girl, and dead eyes. This will be fun!
