We are a new theatre company focused on creating exciting works that explore sexuality, gender and modern relationships in today’s society. They are currently casting for the R&D/showcase period of their first theatre production: Town Hall.Town Hall is a 60 minute play mixing direct address and OTT cabaret acts to satire a conservative group’s views on sex and modern relationships. Set within the conceit of an actual town hall, audience members are treated as “like minded friends” who’ve attended a meeting of the British Temperance League (BTL) due to concerns about moral decay and sexual degeneracy.Characters include Mary: middle aged, self righteous anti-sex leader of the the BTL, her young Sunday Drama School actors – Neil (an achingly try-hard thespian), Jane (an introverted shut-in), Harriet (a shouty troublemaker) – and Colin, the groups geriatric stand-in keyboard player with a hidden past.As Mary becomes increasingly hysterical, the meeting spirals into sordid, sequin-studded exploits and a finale of heartfelt revelations that’s both life affirming and just a little bit uncomfortable.The 10 day R&D period will begin in late June 2018, including a tech/ dress run and showcase on the last day.
