  • Project Details
    The Lighting Designer/Lighting Lead will assist in the development of lighting designs for Westbury National events, liaising with Account Management, Production Management, and Department Heads. This position will also be responsible for leading crews in various venues and environments to install lighting systems of all sizes for live events.  This position reports to the Head of Production.Key responsibilities will include:
    Designing and generating lighting plots for events, utilizing Westbury National inventory as effectively as possible
    Generating lighting system paperwork for use in execution on site
    Assisting the Account Managers along with other members of the design team with creative ideas for events 
    Assisting and collaborating in the generation of complete production drawings
    Attending pre-production and cueing meetings, both internally and with clients
    Assisting with the creation of renderings and event drawings as required
    Show operation including, but not limited to, lighting consoles, media servers, dimming and distro systems, and other related equipment for events
    Leading a team of lighting technicians to execute events
    Coordinating with Production Coordinators and Technical Directors to ensure appropriate levels of support for events and rentals
    Assisting in identifying training requirements and creating a skills development program for existing and new lighting technicians

    Four years in modern lighting design and onsite show experience. A Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts with a focus on lighting may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement. 
    Experience with AvoLites consoles would be an asset
    Knowledge of common practices used in live events and theatre. 
    Knowledge of lift machinery and equipment, such as scissor and boom lifts, and the safe working procedures involved. 
    Knowledge of conventional methods of building truss structures and mounting and rigging lighting equipment.
    Ability to direct a team of technicians
    An ability to work at heights
