"Terra Firma"is a University of Westminster BA Film graduation short film, directed by Tamsin Cleary, produced by Charlotte Tiltman, and written by Callum Fernley.



THE STORY

Sydney, an astronaut, arrives home after a two-year mission. Physically, emotionally, and mentally drained and overwhelmed by the spotlight reserved for a returning hero, she retreats to the familiar comforts of life with her partner, Owen. But once back, she begins to feel overwhelmed and alienated by what once seemed familiar to her, struggling to come to terms with her place in a life she can’t quite recognize. Between dinner parties, rehabilitation sessions, and dull evenings at home with Owen, Sydney realises the place she once called home no longer makes sense.



WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking to cast Sydney, the lead role, as well as 3 minor speaking roles and 7 extras to play guests at Sydney's birthday dinner. While the roles are small, it will be a fun day and it's a great credit, as many graduates of our BA Film course have gone on to work in film and television, with recent work from alumni including Senna and Amy (Asif Kapadia, director), We Need To Talk About Kevin (Seamus McGarvey, cinematographer), and Skyfall (Neal Purvis, screenwriter, producer).
