Meet the next generation of Canadian playwrights while gaining invaluable experience in the new play development process.

 

In addition to an ever growing list of award winning dramatists, many of the emerging playwrights coming out of the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, at the University of Toronto, have gone on to have their plays produced at various independent and mainstream theatres throughout the city, including Tarragon Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Canadian Stage, Outside the March, Toronto Fringe Festival, Next Stage Theatre Festival, SummerWorks, Rhubarb Festival and Paprika Festival, This play reading series offers you access to our emerging playwrights and their new works at the workshop phase.

 

DESCRIPTION: We are seeking women and men from a wide range of ages, races and ethnicities, for a series of play readings of new work by emerging playwrights. These readings will not be open to the public. They are part of an advanced playwriting course taught by acclaimed playwright and director Djanet Sears.

 

The actors selected in this casting process will receive a PDF copy of the script approximately 3-5 days prior to the reading. Hard copies of the work will be made available just prior to the reading.

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 1.5 – 2 hours on one of the following dates:

 

 

Tuesday, February 26th:           6:30 – 8:30 PM

Tuesday, March 6th:                  5:30 – 8:00 PM

Tuesday, March 13th:                5:30 – 8:00 PM

Tuesday March 20th:                 6:30 – 8:30 PM

Tuesday March 27th:                 6:30 – 8:30 PM
