Seeking 'THE DESERT FOX' Field Marshal... ERWIN ROMMEL, for a feature film called "SALEM 777."



As LUCIFER & his imps are time traveling, leaving the Medieval epoch after once again recovering THE LOVE LETTER, THE LISPERER misses a mathematical & physics calculation by 1/10s of a point! The reason for this is that LUCIFER is arguing with THE FALTERER and THE LISPERER has become distracted & he puts the decimal in the wrong place. As a result, LUCIFER and his imps have landed abruptly in World War II. When they are no longer in space & are in the skies we hear an audio-transition of marching troops. To add insult to injury, they have landed...in 'THE WOLF'S LAIR'- Adolf Hitler's cabin!





LUCIFER looks at his hand & sees that THE LOVE LETTER is not in his hand and nowhere in the room. THE LISPERER explains to him that the formula for time traveling for THE LOVE LETTER is different than the formula for time traveling used by LUCIFER & his imps, because of the difference in the configuration of the molecular structures. THE LISPERER knows though, that THE LOVE LETTER is in the premises & he informs LUCIFER. They must hunt it down.





An audio transition of Der Fuhrer is heard as Hitler is giving one of his speeches:

LUCIFER: That man has the devil in him!

The imps all stare at LUCIFER.



THE ORATOR: Listen. Listen.

In the adjacent map room Field Marshals ERWIN ROMMEL, ERICH VON MANSTEIN, WALTER MODEL & MAXIMILIAN WAGNER are having a conversation.



MAXIMILIAN WAGNER: Hey Rommel, you know your name is forbidden on the battle field. When civilians & soldiers of The Allied Forces hear your name, they start clapping. Heck and you're German and fighting for The Axis Powers. Everybody loves you. Even your enemies love & admire you. They don't call us Germans anymore, because of you. We're all ROMMELS.



ERWIN ROMMEL: You know why? Because I have a moral conscience! Time and time again, I defy Der Fuhrer's orders. I don't kill POW's. I refuse to kill anyone on account of race or ethnicity. I don't carry out any immoral acts of war, I just ignore bad orders. I'm serving Germany & the German people. My goal is for Germany to prosper. I don't just give orders. My soldiers see me on the front lines of the battle field fighting right by their side. I'm right next to them, side by side, with bullets whizzing by me & I'm a Field Marshal. I always tell my soldiers don't fight a battle if you don't gain anything by winning.



WALTER MODEL: Exactly. What's the point of invading Crete? That's really moronic. Why do we have to follow this mad man's orders? There is no tactical advantage there in that decision. Der Fuhrer wants to call it Operation Mercury. We can't even use Crete as a military base. It's pointless if we carry on with that. Invading Crete will delay us for Operation Barbarossa, our Russian invasion. Every minute that we lose will cost us great losses later that we will not be able to afford.



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Model, you're making so much sense, but stay with your defensive strategies. You couldn't carry out an offensive strategy, not even if your life depended on it.



MAXIMILIAN WAGNER: Der Fuhrer is underestimating the British! In order to swiftly drive out & conquer Russia we must first conquer England. That would really serve to raise German morale, and to crush the spirit of our enemies.



WALTER MODEL: Manstein, you're the mastermind of offensive strategy. The strategist & tactician without equal of The Second World War. The commanding officers of The Allied Forces fear you. Winston Churchill respects you, and they're watching your every move- like a chess match!



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Speaking of Churchill, you heard him in his last speech. He said; 'We shall never surrender!' Don't underestimate Churchill. Many people think he's a politician. He's more than the English Prime Minister. He's an orator & a tactician. He'll sacrifice a city to win the war. I told Der Fuhrer that in order to succeed in Russia, England must be conquered first. It could come back to haunt us if we don't get the order right. Order of importance. We have a shortage of German man power- that's another hole compared to the Russians. In comparison, the Russians have an inexhaustible supply of troops and more tanks than us. We'll replace our Panzer III & Panzer IV tanks with Panther Tanks to combat their T-43 Tanks. Our Panther Tanks are more sophisticated than their T-43 tanks. In war numbers alone confer no advantage, but they do help. We just have to out think them. And I wouldn't put 100% trust in the Ultra machine, either.



ERWIN ROMMEL: Operation Sea Lion. We have the superior aircrafts & advanced technological planes in the air for Operation Sea Lion. The Soviet Union is too vast. At least a country like England has a finite boundary- it's easier to conquer. The winters in Russia are so cold, and the temperatures are so extreme that some soldier's skin on their upper eyelids freeze and just fall off. It's grueling.



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Operation Sea Lion? There's a big hole in that one too. We do have superiority in our aircrafts, but! I could find the hole & the weakness in any scenario, down to every detail.



MAXIMILIAN WAGNER: But?



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Our aircrafts are not being mass produced. We need to mass produce our aircrafts, or we will not gain any advantages in the air. We have to gain superiority in the air to conquer England. Then we'll have a chance in conquering Russia.



ERWIN ROMMEL: What about France? How do we secure France?



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: For the battle of France, we'll do a sickle cut. We'll incorporate the element of surprise by attacking from a different direction- from The Ardennes Forest. We'll catch France with their pants down! We'll do a narrow thrust through The Ardennes Forest instead of plotting through The Maginot Line.



MAXIMILIAN WAGNER: That's so radical, that I don't know if it's going to work.



ERWIN ROMMEL: That's exactly why it'll work, because it's so out there, the French won't see us coming! Put me at the head of this operation!



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Der Fuhrer has to approve all final decisions. If we go through The Ardennes Forest casualties will be greatly reduced & very minimal. You know I don't like casualties.



ERWIN ROMMEL: We should mutiny against der Fuhrer and form a German military state. Manstein, you'll be our leader. We'll follow you to the very end. We need to get out of this!



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Prussian Field Marshals do not mutiny.



ERWIN ROMMEL: Manstein, you're a man of illusions, overly optimistic.



WALTER MODEL: Prussian Field Marshals must be prepared to mutiny, otherwise they should remain battalion commanders! With you, we could win on all fronts, not just on the Eastern front.



ERWIN ROMMEL: You could be our new leader. If Der Fuhrer throws the battle at his generals and doesn't interfere with us, Germany will win this war. We have the masterminds & the superior technologies to win.



ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Der Fuhrer, has no tactical sense, no strategic sense, no logistical sense, he's a showman and that's it! He's a megalomaniac. He thinks he's a great commander, but he's far from it! Many of his ideas don't make sense and the end results do not confer any tactical gain or advantage. He doesn't believe in retreats under any circumstances, but there is something called strategic withdrawals, which works in desperate situations. I explain to him what to do to win battles & ultimately the war. He listens for about 45 minutes, and then he reverts to his original plan before our conversation.
