When Paula’s salon is torn away from her, Christine helps soften the blow as they pack away their memories in this poetic, social realist drama.



Anguished and heartbroken over the loss of her shop, the story observes the owner of a salon, Paula (Mid 40s), closing up for the last time after being served an eviction notice.



The salon is cold and still. Objects that have not moved for years now seem out of place and her connection to the space seems distant all of a sudden.



Paula’s colleague and close friend, Christine (Early 30s), arrives and tries to encourage Paula to make the most of a bad situation. Her positivity and mischievousness eventually allows the pair to enjoy themselves in the Parlour as they always have done.



After the events of the day unfold and all of the possessions that once filled this space with character are packed away, Paula finally manages to relax and make light of the situation.



Christine and Paula say their goodbyes in an emotional embrace and Paula is left alone, anxious of the events to come.



Helpless, she sits and watches as removal men pack away her life’s work into a van. Paula pays the men and they leave, the shop now a hollow shell of what it once was.

Paula is defeated and emotionally drained and her memories hang over her like a black cloud. She notices a photograph left on the floor and turns it over to see the inscription. The words change something in her and she is about to grin when... CUT TO BLACK.
