About me
Franko Figueiredo (Director) - Franko Figueiredo has a BA in Business & Arts and an MA research in Directing at Rose Bruford College/Manchester Universtiy. In 1989 he won the Raimundo Correia Writing Award in Brazil. Has directed, devised and performed physical theatre pieces in UK, Europe, Japan and Brazil. As a director, he has worked on "Equilibria", "Fama", "Nuvem 9", "Sonho", "El misterio del intercambista", "The Tempest" in Brazil. In the UK he has directed "Animal Farm", 'StoneCrabs, a story of domestic violence, vitriol and victory' and "Agua Viva" at the Edinburgh Festival, "Strindberg's Miss Julie", "A Winter's Tale - After Shakespeare", "Mishima's Sotoba Komachi and the Damask Drum", the musical Josephine, The Singer by Kafka, "Goldoni's Arlechinno, A Servant of Two Masters". Franko Figueiredo has also directed the first professional production of Nelson Rodrigues' Waltz # 6. Most recently he directed Lynn Greenwood's Basic which is transferring to Hackney Empire in the spring of 2007. Franko also works as a free-lance practitioner and lecturer. Franko Figueiredo has alos directed many rehearsed readings, most recent ones being Gao Xingjian's Dialogue and Rebuttal at RADA and Alzira Power at Origins 2006. Franko Figueiredo is joint artistic director of StoneCrabs Theatre and his 'young directors programme' has recently received an award from SELF. Has directed for The Young Vic Two Boroughs Project. Currently working with Lewisham Youth Theatre and Emergency Exit Arts. Currently working on the new play Queen Pokou in association with the Albany for UK Tour.
