“Jake has worked for me as Sound No.1 on Qdos productions of Aladdin, Peter Pan & Sleeping Beauty. Jake’s approach to work is excellent – he is reliable, conscientious at all times and has a very good manner when dealing with the cast and creative teams.

His work on sound has been consistently of the highest quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jake for any sound position.”

    About me

I am a mature, approachable and confident person that embraces any new challenges and opportunities that may arise. I have worked as sound designer and/or sound no.1 on everything from studio shows to large scale musicals with 16 piece orchestras and 36 radio microphones, mostly using Yamaha QL/CL or Digico SD consoles. My time as a venue technician allowed me to immerse myself in a variety of different shows and genres, increasing my knowledge and appreciation of varying engineering practices. I am well versed in show control systems such as Q-Lab, using it to trigger click tracks, multiple output sound effects, videos and OSC/Timecode for syncing sound and LX during productions.

Whilst slightly biased towards sound, I still have extensive experience in designing and operating lighting for shows in various applications from live music, dance, dramas and musicals. With extensive use of ETC Geo’s and Ion’s, as well as Avolites, to power, patch and focus both generic and LED moving lights.

In having been involved in many Get In/Outs, I know how to not only complete this efficiently, but safely. As duty stage manager I have been responsible for the safe running of shows, giving safety toolbox talks to visiting companies and ensuring they adhere to regulations throughout their visit. I have had extensive health and safety training including the use off tallescopes, noise awareness, pyrotechnics and First Aid, as well as industry training in Yamaha & Digico Desks, Dante Level 3 certifications and Theatre Sound Design and Operating. During my time working as a venue technician I have learned not only how to operate equipment for shows, but undertake routine maintenance and PAT testing of equipment to make sure it works consistently and safely.
