About me
Even before I embarked on my degree course, my passion has always been the costume and theatrical entertainment. I am captivated by the atmosphere that surrounds a production.
Having completed my degree in Costume Construction for Screen and Stage, I believe that creating costumes and working on productions is my path. During my course and up to this point, I have gained extensive skills, working on live productions, creating historical costumes which are accurate to the time period, making pantomime costumes stimulating for a younger audience, creating costumes for dance productions to a designer’s specification, while making sure everything is practical and durable. I am also very passionate about the story of a costume, why it is created and the messages it needs to portray. This is where my final major project lead me to look at costumes that express specific emotions. My passion is looking deeply into how costumes express a meaning, what it says. Creating costumes for characters is so interesting, creating them to consider, not only the time period and style of the production, but also the character themselves and what would be appropriate for them to wear in relation to their social class, personality etc. I am excited to use the skills that I have already gained to assist in creating costumes and further my knowledge in this area with new skills.
