About me
I have just graduated from NTU with a high 2.1 BA Hons in Theatre Design. My passion has always been in theatre and I was fortunate enough to realise what my dream was quite quickly. I’ve volunteered for a number of my local amateur dramatic societies for over 11 years, working as a stage hand, dresser, follow spot operator, tab operations and set construction.
Having experienced life both on and off the stage, I can relate the troubles an actor can have with exits, quick changes and accessibility in set and costume and the importance of constructing suitably weighted costume and props.
During my time at university I was able to experience my first realised designs for a college show. “Spring Awakening” gave me the opportunity to design collaboratively with a peer and work closely with technical crew, actors and director! Everything I designed was made by myself and my collaborator under the supervision of the in-house costume and workshop technicians, completed within the modest show budget.
Not only can I design heavily researched sets and costumes, but also build scale models and create accurate CAD working drawings and plans. Every project has its own set of challenges, but problem solving is always part of my skill set, so it never remains an issue for long.
I can confidently work to scale models and drawings, build most structures, use scenic painting techniques to mimic texture and work to tight budgets within a small timeline.
I’ve also been given ample opportunities to use sewing machines, overlockers, and work with pattern blocking and adapting. I can provide basic tailoring as well as costume maintenance, organising rails for quick changes, setting up dressing rooms and even dressing for large and small casts during live performances.
Additional skills:
