About me
Shane studied directing at E15 Acting School, London and trained as an actor in Dublin forthree years prior to this. Invited to Paris to observe work with Lev Dodin and received a bursary
to travel to Moscow to research contemporary ensemble practice in preparation for The Master
and Margarita. Recent projects include: The Girl In The Box by Alex Jones,The Master and
Margarita (Te Pooka, Edinburgh); The Bay by Hannah Burke (The Space, Edinburgh Fringe and
Olivier Award winning Theatre 503). Golden (Hackney Empire), Mothers of Modern Ireland - a
monumental documentary charting the changes in Ireland over the last century, as seen through
the eyes of its oldest women. He completed The Next Stage 2009 (Abbey Theatre Dublin), and
workshopped with Declan Donnellan, Lloyd Newson, Royston Able and Ruth Little. In 2011 he
was invited to New York to devise work on 'Liverpool Trade' and led a series of workshops on
Fragments training practise at Dance New Amsterdam. He has worked as an assistant director
at both Soho Theatre and The Tricycle Theatre London. Currently Artistic Director of Stagecraft
http://stagecraftyt.com, one of the largest youth theatres of its kind in Ireland, dedicated to
producing challenging theatre for young people. Guest director at E15 Acting School, and an
associate artist of LoNyLa http://lonya.com: a shared, collaborative space for artists worldwide
to develop and expose new material for stage, film and television.
