About me
I am currently a freelance Sound Technician, working as a Sound Dep on 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' at the Gielgud Theatre. I have shadowed the Sound Departments at ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Sunny Afternoon’, ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Wicked’. In July of last year, I completed my degree in Theatre Sound at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I graduated with a 2:1. As part of my degree I also undertook a placement at Autograph Sound where I worked as part of the Hire Store Team.
Over the summer of I worked at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Venue Crew for the Pleasance Theatre. This experience taught me how to set up, effectively, efficiently and quickly, the sound requirements for each of the nine shows performing daily as our venue.
Over Christmas, I worked as Sound No.2 on the pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ at the Cambridge Arts Theatre where I was solely responsible for the radio world backstage. The primary responsibilities included preparation of the radio microphones, monitoring, creating a plot, fixing any problems that occurred on stage, building essential relationships with both cast and crew, working on a microphone quick change for a ‘messy’ scene and maintenance of the equipment during the run.
I am always looking to develop my skills and become a better practitioner
My ultimate goal is to become a West End Sound No.1 as I enjoy mixing musicals. However, from my time at Central, I recognise that I have the potential to become a successful Sound Designer. Whichever way my career path leads, I am fully aware that there is still a huge amount of learning to do, incorporating hard and soft skills. One of my personal strengths recognised from my placement at Autograph Sound at the end of 2015, is that I am committed to learning, no matter how long it takes; any skill I acquire remains with me for life.
