Outlander is a popular television drama series based on the novels of the same name by written by Diana Gabaldon. The show focuses on a World War II nurse, Claire, who is transported back in time and returns to 18th century Scotland, where she meet a Highland warrior named James Fraser. They proceed to et ensnared in the events of the Jacobite risings.

The show has been exported worldwide; airing on Starz in the US, on SoHo in Australia, on Showcase in Canada, on RTÉ in Ireland and later in the UK when it was acquired by Amazon Prime Instant Video.

True to the books, the show is shot in Scotland, on the outskirts of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire. The on set shoots are carried out in a converted warehouse specifically for the show and location shoots are carried out in the likes of East Linton, East Lothian & Fife. Later seasons saws shoots in Prague, Paris, Cape Town & North Carolina.

The title song is composed by Bear McCreary whose work includes the score for the popular The Walking Dead.
