The A Word follows members of the Hughes family as their lives are changed following their five year old son, Joe, being diagnosed with autism. The BBC drama television series is written by BAFTA Award winner Peter Bowker and stars Max Vento, Christopher Eccleston, Morven Christie, Greg McHugh, Molly Wright, Lee Ingleby and Vinette Robinson.

A story of family unity and the individual struggles they all face, the series embodies the strength a family can have despite an extremely sad situation. The TV series is based on the Israeli series Yellow Peppers and began airing on the BBC on 26 March 2016. The second series premiered on 7 November 2017, with the third airing on 5 May 2020.
