Claimed

2012, 100 minutes

A grieving man isolates himself in his desert cabin in an attempt to cope with the recent murder of his wife, until an unexpected visitor darkens his doorstep.

There's a cabin situated in the middle of the desert. It was built for an escape from reality, the city lights and noises. A place for serenity. There's a small town down the road consisting of only a diner, run down motel, a jail and a drug store. A stretch of road leading to the main interstate runs through, covered in dirt and tumbleweeds, a road hardly traveled. Damon left the city to be alone for awhile, not knowing if or when he'll return. He has completely disconnected himself from life outside of this desert cabin. His wife, Julie, was murdered in a brutal way and the killer is still at large. He'll stay for as long as it takes until he's finally able to come to grips with the fact that Julie is gone forever. In one of the first scenes of the film, there's a knock on the door. Damon, expecting no guests, is confused as to who is visiting him. Redmond leans over the door frame, looking exhausted and sun burnt. He pleads to let him in as he's been lost in the desert for days with no water or food. Damon oddly feels compassion for this man and trusts him almost immediately. Redmond, sensing Damon's need for help, will take it upon himself to walk him through this time of need. From the moment Redmond walks into the cabin, unexplained paranormal and horrific scenes unfold. People always wonder where we go when we die and if there's a heaven, hell or purgatory. This cabin and town may hold the answers to the infamous question. Damon wanted to be alone but he'll soon find out that we never are.
