A man shoots himself in the head, twice

Alan is an astrophysicist who has lived his entire life by the books. He has tried to follow the life's checklist that promises a fulfilled human experience. Until the day he got fired from his job. So he decided to propose to his long term girlfriend Allison. She dumps him for his father, Terry. Terry is also the person who fired Alan and happens to be his father. Needless to say Alan does what anyone would do in this situation. He goes home to blow his brains out. Unfortunately he survives but damages the part of the brain that is related to intelligence and hence loses his ability for logical reasoning. And therefore loses the ability to feed sad. This is Alan's story as he meets Phil, a professional funeral mourner and Rose, who teaches him how to love. This is Alan's journey as his intelligence starts to come back and now he must make a decision. He can either shoot himself in the head in the exact same position so he can be happy, which may kill him, or go back to his old life as a world-renowned astrophysicist. Oh and Allison comes back because it doesn't work out with Terry so take that into account. He will be an astrophysicist in a relationship other than with his cat.
