An artistic reality ARTDOC expressed by a young Poet coming from a hard life experience.

Maria is an 18-college girl, daughter of Mexican immigrants from the Bronx NY. Maria’s life was never easy, as she had to live with her violent father, mother, mother’s schizophrenic husband and 2 sisters. The family moved between houses and shelters and never really had hope for a better future. When Maria started to go to high school she went through difficulties like depression, cutting her self, social isolation, luckily she started to write poems. The movie opens the door to a world of a girl that against all odds kept the faith, no family support and not easy life, only poems to keep her over the surface. The images from present time of Maria in college and Maria in her parent’s house at the Bronx weaved with the past stories and the artistic storyteller – the poems as a way to express her past.
