"My Friend the Polish" girl is a drama mockumentary told through the viewpoint of Katie, a young American expat living in London, shooting a film about Alicja, a crazy unemployed Polish actress. Although Katie’s intention is to observe and reveal Alicja’s life, Katie’s overbearing presence in her film says just as much about the vanity of an “artistic” filmmaker. What starts out as a light foray into cinema verité ends in a betrayal of intimacy and friendship.
