When Rex's best friend goes away to the school of her dreams, Rex is forced to fight her own battles with the occasional help of her ferret, Lucifer.

Rex is bored, lonely, and often gets drunk and into trouble - with her ferret Lucifer as her accomplice. Rex has a lot on her plate: perky Jesus freak Susanne has stolen away her on-again/off-again boyfriend Storm; her chance encounter with a strange, sweet girl named Annelise ended with a kiss she can't stop thinking about; her BFF Rocky is away at school; and, her mom has a new girlfriend, Diana. Realizing that Susanne is a tease, Storm calls Rex to say he misses her. Rex is charmed at first, quickly realizes how vapid their relationship was, and tells Storm off. Over storm and into Annelise, things start to look up for Rex - until she finds out Rocky can't make it home to replace Storm as her teammate in the big raft race coming up. Storm and Susanne announce they're racing together, so Rex knows she has to beat them. She embraces the help of her mom and Diana. Rex's mom races with her in her Satan-themed raft. Lucifer falls overboard. After a harrowing rescue, they proudly finish last. Susanne and Storm lose, too. Rex sees that Annelise came out to cheer her on in the race. Rex and Annelise get a happy ending... or, beginning.
