Receding

A balding actor, down on his luck, takes his life back to score a dream role on a hit cop TV show.

In the independent short film, Receding, we follow Nathaniel McLernon, as he navigates the politics of being a represented actor, who is currently balding and hasn’t been very successful as of late. Afraid to get dropped, and with a desire to get on Blue Force, a hit cop TV Show; he does his agents bidding and does everything she asks of him. However, tired of being down and depressed, Nathan decides to take his life back, confront his receding hairline, and drives head-on to achieve his dream. Receding is a relatable story about insecurity, being down on your luck, and trying your best to dig yourself out of that deep dark hole called depression. We’re all insecure about our appearances, but for your average actor, your “look” might make or break your job. Hopping from his Manhattan apartment, the ticket booth he works in, acting class and the audition room, we follow Nathan through a darkly comedic journey as he struggles to find himself, and embrace the best version of himself he can be.
