Stano

2017, 106 minutes

STANO is a touching underdog story about triumph over hardships, as well as an unflinching look at the integration of prisoners back into society after serving time. The law gives Bobby a second chance, but does his community?

Bobby Stano had everything going for him. Fresh out of high school in The Bronx, he was signed to a major league contract with the Yankees, he had a beautiful girlfriend that loved him, and everything was looking up. That is, until one night he and his friends got into a fight outside a bar and rather than walk away, Bobby landed a punch that resulted in an accidental fatality that changed his life forever. He was found guilty of murder and given eight years with another nine tacked on for "staying alive." When Bobby is released seventeen years later, he returns to the new Bronx as a humbled man in his late thirties. After struggling to deal with his vilified reputation and a difficult probation officer, Bobby reluctantly accepts a job assisting his former minor league baseball coach in mentoring a difficult yet talented player. Bobby winds up proving to the team that seventeen years in prison didn’t strip him of his talent and for the first time in almost two decades he sees a glimmer of hope that maybe it's not too late for him
