Five friends go on a vacation to a cabin in the woods, but find that leaving isn't as simple as just walking away.
"Walk Away" is a thriller set in the woods of Vermont. A group of friends arrive for a summer weekend of hiking and drinking by the campfire and quickly learn that their remote getaway won't let them go back home. Each time they attempt to walk away from the cabin, they appear back in the house... As winter approaches desperation and tension come to a head, and life in the cabin turns dangerous. Trust, friendship and hope slip away. As events spiral out of control, each individual must face themselves and their true fears. When a drunken Mike goes too far, Eli is the first to snap. After a fight, Mike gets the best of Eli and pins him to the ground. Unable to handle this blow to his ego, Eli grabs an axe and hits Mike. Everyone is shocked, especially Eli, and they all realize the implications of this moment of anger. After the murder, life in the cabin is unbearable. Annie, already losing hope and afraid to get in bed next to her murderous boyfriend, commits suicide with sleeping pills. Eli becomes more unhinged, and the two remaining women are scared of him, sleeping in shifts to protect themselves. Eventually, Rachael can't take it and attacks him in his sleep. After Sam finds the body, Rachel delivers a monologue about life in the cabin, while slamming her bloody hands against the glass door that separates them. Sam barricades herself in the attic until Rachael threatens to burn the cabin. Sam builds a trap in the attic, in case Rachael goes too far. Outside, they fight, chasing each other through the woods. At the critical moment Sam convinces Rachel to stop, telling her that she'll be alone forever in the cabin if she murders Sam. They make up, and spend the night in the woods. In the morning, everything seems fine until Rachael decides to return to the cabin, and Sam remembers her trap too late... Only one person can walk away from the cabin, once they have lost all hope. Hell is other people.
