Hi Greta, to become a franchise owner is an investment that can be lucrative,depending on the franchise of course. I also got approached by Make Believe and it's not something I can consider right now logistically but I wouldn't write it off. Maybe try and contact other franchisees of the company and ask their thoughts/experiences?
Statistically speaking, franchises are the best businesses to get involved in, because usually you're following a time-proven plan and the product or service is well known. However, that's not a given: what you need to do is to investigate it thoroughly, including how much you will have to spend on marketing to show a return, how much time before that return is realised and the soundness of the plan. Investigate other franchisees, as Daniella said, and find out how successful they are against the work they had to put in to get that success - if you like, you can boil it down to an hourly rate if it'll give you something to compare it to.
Also, be sure of the legal verities - if it's genuine, fair enough, but if it's a network marketing opportunity under the guise of a franchise, walk away: network marketing opportunities are nebulous, and you never know how much you're going to have to spend in advertising and other activities to make it work, and if it's even worth your reputation.
After all, you don't want the chance to make profits to be make-believe, do you?
