Views of my profile by other voice actors?

I am a voice (VO) actor seeking work through Mandy. On my My Statistics page showing who has viewed my profile (or at least found my name ) lately, though I see a few potential employers to whom I've submitted auditions. I see mostly other voice actors -- many of the same people often. I don’t fully understand Mandy’s search function, and am curious what searches VO actors conduct that often yield my name, and why so. Could anyone clarify?

Editorial Comment Hi there,

There may be specific reasons why VO Artist/Employers maybe viewing your account. Some actors are employers, some may be listening to voice reel for style and quality. It's hard to identify a reason, but having your profile public gives you the opportunity for a level of employers to see your work to hire you for a job.

This is a nice feature with Mandy. I do like being able to see if my audition might have generated some additional views from a casting group or employer. I too have had a bunch of views all at once every now and again.

My guess is that every view that you are getting from artists or employers will raise your rating within you demographic and geographic area you might pop up on more people searching.

Donald,

I'm glad that you asked that question---the same thing has happened to me as well. On the whole, I suspect that Doug is right--that the views we're getting will raise our profile to the next "level". Or maybe it's just my wishful thinking....lol

Anyway, I'm glad that you posted this question!

Doug suggests that getting views from anyone including other voice actors can raise our ratings and so help make us more visible in future searches. I'm still confused, especially since I haven't seen any explicit ratings for myself or others. Can Mandy staff clarify whether Mandy actually uses a rating system for talent, what determines ratings, how we can see our ratings (if any), and what effects ratings actually have in determining search results? Thanks.

Editorial Comment Hi Donald,
We do not have any kind of rating system on the site that would affect the position at which a candidate's profile would appear in a search result.
Kind regards,

Donald, I guess I just meant total views. I know that there is a 24 hour most viewed listed in my network. The more hits you have in 24 and you may be listed on this listing...thereby possibly generating more hits. Most of these seem to be hits from other VA/VOs, but you never know.

As to whether there is some back-end algo that Mandy is using to serve talent up to casting agents or companies looking to hire...I'm not sure. My assumption is that total views may help your visibility.

Hi everyone,
Looking to record a V.O. for a tool company (you may have seen it) but the script makes me scratch my head:
"Script to read: This product is built to last. Motion sensor. Misses Thistle."
What in the world is "Motion sensor. Misses Thistle?" I've been using tools for 60 + years, but that makes no sense.
Love to know what this means - perhaps admin could clarify? (Contact the ad. placer for us?).

Thanks:
John

John,

I may be wrong, but I'm looking at that as a brand name possibly, not a feature.

Douglas, yeah, I thought that too. I looked up tools with those names but . . . zero. Thanks for your response, if - or when - I get to the bottom of this, I'll let you know what it was.
Best:
John

Saw the posting. Script aside, do you think $50 is a reasonable rate for a 1’30” spot? Dubious.

Donald, I'm on a fence about that pay rate. It depends on so many things. However, as I see it, that would be a starting point for discussion.

John: I can’t apply since I’m traveling with no recording capability, so you’re welcome to the job. Hope you get it. I’d be interested to know whether you’re successful negotiating a higher rate. Good luck.
