Project DetailsThe Current is seeking a temporary Associate Producer to support our morning show. An ideal candidate would be an experienced producer, have social media skills, and an understanding of digital content production.This temporary position will work approximately 32 hours per week with The Current’s morning show. The other 8 hours will be allocated to various producing tasks, such as producing and editing audio content for The Current’s content portfolio.This position is also responsible for scheduling, editing, writing, and producing segments and material for broadcast and digital platforms. The Associate Producer initiates, plans and produces interviews and features. This position will generate segment ideas and concepts and participate in all creative aspects of the program. The Associate Producer is also responsible for writing and editing daily on-air copy.This is a 6-month assignment beginning on June 15, 2021.Compensation: Expected hourly rate $22-25. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.Application Deadline: Open until filledPosition Responsibility:Work with the morning show host to produce programming between 6-10am on The Current:Coordinates show production elements.Hands-on production; cut, edit audio and promos, schedules studio time.Researches and proposes show topics.Researches sources/guests, background, context.Update the webpage, blog, and social media.Stays current with local, regional, national and international news.Helps plan coverage based on calendars and upcoming events.Direct shows, including writing promos and scripts, editing copies, coordinating timing.Produce and edit in-studio performances, interviews, podcasts and other audio as needed.Plan, coordinate, and produce live remote broadcasts as needed.Direct segments/programs; maintains audio quality control.Maintain relationships with technical staff, audio engineers and other departments.Coordinate special projects as assigned.Participate in the fundraising activities of Minnesota Public Radio, including on-air fundraising.Understands and complies with FCC Broadcast Regulations.Other duties as assigned.
